THE GOOD: Successfully installed the ebox44 and was able to use with perfect sound quality on Dell Latitude, 32-bit WinXP (SP 3), Intel i5, 2 GB RAM. THE BAD: Unfortunately, the Dell Latitude became unavailable for me to continue using, so I got a hand-me-down Dell XPS 600, 32-bit WinXP (SP 3), Pentium D, 2 GB RAM.

Once installed, the ebox44 produced horrible latency noise and the sound quality was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. Per customer support's recommendation, I also tried using the generic 'ASIO 4 ALL' driver, but to no avail. In fact, the audio delay was even worse.

Ran into a dead end with support after that. THE DEPRESSING: I decided to purchase a refurbished computer in hopes of finding something that would work with this card (but avoid huge risk with large amounts of $$$). I acquired an eMachines, 64-bit Win7, AMD Athlon II X2, 3 GB RAM which should be more than capable. I proceeded to instal the ebox44 driver, and when it prompted me to plug in the device, the installation froze. After several restarts, I came to discover that my computer would neither shut down or start up (Windows boot screen freezes) by simply having the ebox44 plugged into the USB port. 2 / 3 computers I tried did not work with the ebox44.

I have other 64-bit Win7 computers I could try, but am afraid to even plug it in. If you buy this, compatibility will be hit-or-miss.
